Neutral Bay Project

Context and Objectives

 This kitchen, located in the Neutral Bay, was designed for clients seeking a space with strong visual impact and a refined contemporary feel. The brief called for a kitchen with an  elevated design presence that would complement their existing wooden flooring. Clean lines throughout was also a priority, along with a balanced combination of display cabinetry and concealed storage to maintain both style and practicality.  The key challenge was to create a cohesive design that balanced a bold aesthetic with everyday functionality. The kitchen needed to feel striking and architectural, while still integrating ample storage solutions and maintaining a seamless connection to the warm timber flooring. 

Design and Functionality

The design centres around a commanding island bench featuring a natural stone benchtop, establishing a strong focal point within the space. A contrasting palette of light grey, black, and timber tones was introduced to complement the existing flooring and add depth to the overall design.

To achieve the client’s desire for clean lines and functionality, integrated handle lighting was incorporated, enhancing both usability and visual appeal. A full-height wall of tinted glass cabinetry with a matte black aluminium frame was designed to provide elegant display storage while maintaining a modern, streamlined look.

Overhead cabinetry was fitted with integrated internal and external lighting to elevate both practicality and ambience. The kitchen also includes an undermounted sink along with integrated fridge-freezer and dishwasher appliances, ensuring a cohesive, uncluttered finish.

Execution and Impact

 The finished kitchen delivers a bold yet refined aesthetic, perfectly balancing statement design with everyday functionality. The central island anchors the space, while the mix of materials and lighting creates depth, warmth, and sophistication. The result is a highly functional kitchen that achieves the clients’ vision of a contemporary space with strong visual impact and seamless integration with the home’s existing timber elements.
