Context and Objectives

Located in the beautiful suburb of Rose Bay, this renovation was designed to create a sophisticated modern kitchen that combined elegant finishes with exceptional functionality. Our clients wanted an open-plan space where family and friends could gather comfortably while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. The brief focused on maximising natural light, adding unique elements, and incorporating high-quality finishes with generous storage.  The challenge was to design a highly functional kitchen that felt spacious, elegant, inviting, and visually striking without compromising on storage or practicality. It was important to achieve a refined design while ensuring the space remained warm and welcoming for everyday family life and entertaining. 

 Design and Functionality

The team at Made for Living designed a sleek palette of high-gloss Novalack Grey handleless cabinetry with contrasting white highlight to create a timeless contemporary aesthetic. The large central island, finished with white Novalack cabinetry, is complemented by a light timber breakfast bar with mirrored kick panels, creating the illusion of a floating benchtop and adding warmth to the space. Expansive stone benchtops provide generous preparation areas, while an integrated fridge-freezer maintains the kitchen's clean, uninterrupted lines. A glass splashback reflects natural light throughout the room while offering a practical, easy-to-maintain surface. Open shelving at each end of the cabinetry introduces a sense of lightness and provides opportunities to display decorative pieces that add personality and character to the home. The open-plan layout flows effortlessly into the adjoining living and dining areas, with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors flooding the space with natural light and creating a seamless connection to the outdoor entertaining area.

 The completed kitchen is a sophisticated and highly functional space that perfectly balances contemporary design with everyday practicality. The generous island and breakfast bar have become the heart of the home, providing the ideal setting for casual dining, entertaining, and family gatherings. Clean architectural lines, premium finishes, and thoughtful design details create a bright, welcoming environment that feels spacious, elegant, and perfectly suited to modern living.
